The New Addition to Our Trailer

While driving in to the Barrie KOA, for our first camping weekend of the 2015 season, both Kathie and I happened to notice these carvings sitting outside a small general store. We drove past so quickly and there was no place to stop that we only got a brief glance but it was enough to peak our curiosity.

Our First Trip of the 2015 Season

As has become customary, we began our RV season with a trip to the Barrie KOA. OK, so “customary” may be a bit of a stretch, as this is only our 2nd season with our trailer, but we do fully intend on making the Barrie KOA our first and (hopefully) last trip location of each season. And, after speaking with a number of fellow campers, it seems we are not alone when it comes to the (many) reasons why we (all) chose to start our season at this park wonderful park. Bucket List Item Checked Off!

We are currently in the midst of our tour of the East Coast and having an amazing time! The weather has been up and down but it really hasn’t mattered nor stopped us from doing anything at all.

During the first leg of our stay in Parker’s Cove, a tiny hamlet in the Annapolis Valley region of Nova Scotia, one of the things we did was take a drive down the Bay of Fundy coast line to Brier Island to do something I have wanted to do all my life! The following are but a few of over 400 or so shots I took on a 4 hour whale watching expedition we took off the Nova Scotia coast of the Bay of Fundy. Continue reading

Hey, Our Campsite’s Already Occupied

Our most recent trip took us to the 1000 Islands / Ivy Lea KOA just outside of Gananoque, Ontario. We decided to make it an extra-long weekend by taking Monday June 30 off as, this year, July 1st fell on a Tuesday which meant that Monday was (supposed to be) a normal work day. For the non-Canadian readers (if there are any), July 1st to Canada is like a subdued version of the 4th of July to the Americans. Although I will admit, I admire the American way of celebrating noted holidays. They always make it a long weekend regardless of which day of the week it falls on. Us Canadians… nope, no way. The holiday is taken on the day of the week it falls on and that’s it. No questions asked, no complaints… after all, we’re Canadian! Continue reading

The Good, The Bad and The In-Laws

“The Good”… We were off for another weekend of camping and our latest journey took us to Pinery Provincial Park, in Grand Bend, Ontario, on the shores of Lake Huron.

“The Bad”… This trip started off much the same as the others… delayed. If you’ll recall, from my previous post, we had a bit of an issue with a pinched trailer electrical cable (ouch, I hate it when that happens) that needed to be repaired. Herein lies the problem (the bad).

It’s All Your Fault!

These are words that I am all too familiar with but, in this case, it’s not my fault at all… it’s Kathie’s. One hundred percent, no questions asked, it’s Kathie’s fault and I’m going to continually remind her of this fact. What could Kathie have done, you might be asking? Well… she got us into the mess we’re in and, frankly, we’re here now, so we might as well stay. Why? Because we’re having the time of our life :-)!

Our First Camping Trip!

Well, we finally did it!  We had our first camping trip with (our) new trailer and it was amazing!

The long weekend started on the Friday with us bringing a load up to the trailer and Sierra was able to free up some time, from her very busy schedule, to come with us. Up until now, she had only seen pictures and had been inundated with our incessant conversations about it.

A Camping We Will Go!

Well, it’s official! We are now the proud owners of a 31-foot Sunset Creek travel trailer! We have actually owned it since October 2013 but we had the dealership store it over what turned out to be the longest winter on record. And we finally took possession of it on April 26, 2014… and we have the keys (and the debt) to prove it! Continue reading
